Embo is a small village near the historical town of Dornoch on the Moray Firth in the county of Sutherland, in the Highlands of Scotland, around an hour drive north from Inverness. The holiday park is next to the beach and has on-site facilities including a pool with a sauna, pitch and putt, café and kids club. Dog friendly. Grannie's Heilan' Hame has quality mobile homes overlooking the gorgeous sandy beach at Embo. There is also touring pitches available for campervans, caravans and tents.
From Embo you can walk along the coast to Loch Fleet, a National Nature Reserve, where you may be lucky to see ospreys flying overhead, buzzards, estuary feeding and wading birds, seals along with other wildlife. Wildflowers, butterflies and other insects are found in the sand dunes and around the coastline.
The mudflats and surrounding native pine woods around Loch Fleet is an ideal place to see some of Scotland's iconic species including Pine Martins, stoats, deer, otters, buzzards, cormorant, curlew, dunlin, osprey, oyster catcher, eider ducks, merganser, heron, goldeneye to mention a few.
The nearby Balblair Wood and Skelbo Wood with its broch and buiral cairn provides off road mountain bike routes that also provide easy walks for all the family (and the dogs) that is only 3 miles from Embo.
