Achmelvich is best known for its beautiful sandy beach and outstanding scenery in the Scottish Highlands area of Sutherland.
Achmelvich is around 3 miles from the scenic fishing village of Lochinver in the north-west coast of Highland Scotland. The sandy beach is very popular in summer when the caravan and campsite is busy along with day visitors from nearby areas. The beach is popular with windsurfers and kayakers, and for sunbathing on one of Scotland’s most beautiful locations. The nearby area provides many places to hillwalk and climb mountains, to go fishing off the rocks or in the many fresh water lochs for trout. There is a small car park that does get busy in the summer months, with a little patience you will be able to park and walk the short distance down to the beach. It is recommended you bring midge repellent cream / sprays and if planning to spend a lot of time outdoors a midge face net can help during the summer months when walking or fishing, or other outdoor activity.
